Hosted by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Crime Analyst in Residence (CAR) Program and presented by Amanda Bruner. This presentation will provide an overview of how analysts can automate crime statistics using only Microsoft Access and Excel. Attendees will learn the basics of pulling data using SQL, creating engaging and dynamic visualizations in Excel, and fully automating the process using macros and Excel formulas. Using a simulated database, attendees will walk through the process of establishing an outside connection to RMS, writing a simple query, and refreshing the reports.
